Haut-Lac International Bilingual School has teamed up with Ski Zenit, a cutting-edge ski racing centre in Saas-Fee and Zinal, to get young ski racers to the highest level, both in their sport and at school. 

If you want to be the best, you have to learn and train with the best. And with a Top10 Swiss IB World School accredited by the World Academy of Sport (WAoS) and a renowned ski racing centre with over 15 years’ experience, that is what you’ll get.

Whatis the Ski Racing Academy?

  • A Sport & Study programme for elite ski racers aged 11-18, who don’t want to compromise on either their education or their sporting talent.
  • A top-notch, bilingual IBMYP and IBDP course with a flexible timetable, enabling athletes to spend over 100 days ski training in English in Saas-Fee, Zinal and other ski resorts near Haut-Lac each year.
  • Access to a school-based personal training programme, expert-led training sessions in Valais, and school, regional, national and international ski races
  • Personalised, family care and support at the Haut-Lac Boutique Boarding House and Ski Zenit’s alpine lodge

What
How

Howdoes the programme work?

  • Students spend four days per week studying in English and/or French at Haut-Lac International Bilingual School, and over 100 days per year training intensively with Ski Zenit’s expert race coaches
  • Every Wednesday afternoon during term time is spent training with the Haut-Lac sports team and ex-ski racing champion in nearby ski resorts
  • Every weekend and school holiday between 25 August and mid-April is spent training in English with Ski Zenit on the glacier and/or world-class slopes of Saas-Fee and Zinal
  • Students take part in at least 10 official Swiss ski races, depending on their age and FIS qualification
  • Students follow a professional conditioning training plan developed by Ski Zenit and the Haut-Lac Sports Team when at school
  • Students stay in Saas-Fee from August to November, and in Zinal from December to April, when training
  • A school teacher will accompany the students each weekend to oversee and help with schoolwork, if necessary

Whatdo candidates need?

  • Good academic performance and results (previous school reports in English)
  • Advanced ski level and previous ski racing experience (performance video and reports)
  • Swiss Racing Licence for 11-15-year-old ski team members (organised by Ski Zenit if needed)
  • FIS Racing Licence from the country of origin for 16-18-year-old ski racers
