The Haut-Lac Nursery

Les Marronniers

Les Marronniers welcomes children aged 18 months to 4 years into a bilingual French-English nursery in the heart of Vevey. Open from 07:30 to 18:30, we’re part of Haut-Lac International Bilingual School’s 30-year commitment to quality early education.

Your toddler will spend their days switching naturally between English and French with native-speaking educators who use our proven “one person, one language” approach. No formal lessons. No pressure. Just genuine relationships that build bilingual confidence from day one.

Read on to find out more about  our a purpose-built learning environment where climbing, creating, gardening and discovering happen in two languages simultaneously.

Learning through discovery

Haut lac

A toddler’s day at Les Marronniers looks like pure play. Think forest walks, climbing on indoor structures, painting at tables and building block towers with friends.

But each of these moments develops something essential:

  • Forest time explores seasonal patterns.
  • Climbing develops body awareness.
  • Creative activities strengthen hand control for future writing.
  • Block play introduces spatial reasoning and cooperation.

And language works the same way. Children naturally absorb vocabulary and grammar through meaningful interactions with English and French-speaking educators at mealtimes, outdoors and during activities.

Weekly real-world experiences

Nature outings

The children explore the nearby forests each week to observe seasonal patterns. And when summer arrives, the much-loved Corseaux paddling pool becomes their favourite destination.

Cooking workshops

Cooking workshops add a delicious dimension to learning. Every birthday gets celebrated properly, with children baking their own cakes using carefully selected ingredients and no sugar.

Gardening sessions

Regular visits to the Haut-Lac School garden get the children planting, watering and harvesting what they've grown. It's where they learn to care for nature and taste the rewards of their efforts.

Yoga practices

The children practise yoga each week to develop their balance, coordination and self-confidence.

Music-making

The children join music workshops each week to discover instruments, songs and rhythms with the Haut-Lac music teacher.

Why Chose the Les Marronniers Nursery?

30+ years’ experience in education

Les Marronniers' connection with Haut-Lac International Bilingual School brings three decades of refined educational expertise directly into our nursery environment.

We have our own dedicated campus in central Vevey, but also organise special activities and performances on the main school campus to experience the larger educational community first-hand.

For families continuing to Haut-Lac's infant section, this means more seamless transitions with familiar faces and spaces.

Learning through bilingual discovery

The children hear English and French throughout the day at Les Marronniers.

Our "one person, one language" approach creates natural bilingual immersion. The children absorb both languages through genuine conversation and daily routines at lunch, outdoors and during play.

They learn to communicate in English and French the same way they learned their first words at home.

Regular parent-nursery communication

Ongoing communication between the nursery team and each family helps them coordinate key developmental stages and create consistency for the children.

Parents provide insight on their child's night, health and current emotional state each morning, whilst the educators deliver real-time updates during activities via the Seesaw app.

What do parents ask us about the Les Marronniers nursery?
international nursery

Les Marronniers welcomes children from 18 months to 4 years old. After nursery, children typically transition into Haut-Lac’s preschool, which runs from age 3 to 6 on the main St-Légier campus.

Les Marronniers is fully bilingual French-English, with both languages used equally throughout the day.

We follow the “one person, one language” approach: each educator speaks only their native language with the children, so toddlers absorb both naturally through play, meals and routines rather than through formal lessons. It’s a similar approach the Haut-Lac preschool builds on from age 3.

Les Marronniers is at Rue du Nord 3, 1800 Vevey, in a quiet residential street close to Lake Geneva and local playgrounds. It’s an easy daily drop-off for families living in Vevey, La Tour-de-Peilz, Corsier, Corseaux, St-Légier or Montreux, with parking nearby and the train station just a short walk away.

The nursery is open Monday to Friday from 07:30 to 18:30, all year round. We close on Swiss bank holidays, for three weeks in summer and two weeks in December. The exact dates are published in our holiday calendar.

A typical day blends free play, structured activities and plenty of outdoor time, all in English and French.

Weekly highlights include forest walks in the nearby hills above Vevey and St-Légier, the Corseaux paddling pool in summer, gardening in the Haut-Lac school garden, cooking workshops, music sessions and yoga. Parents receive real-time updates and photos throughout the day via the Seesaw app.

Not at all, children join Les Marronniers at 18 months, so most arrive in nappies. Our educators support toilet learning at each child’s own pace, and work closely with parents to stay consistent between nursery and home.

Fees depend on the number of days your child attends per week, with options from part-time to full-time. Full details are in the 2025-26 nursery fee schedule.

Yes, children at Les Marronniers transition move into Haut-Lac’s preschool from age 3, on the main St-Légier campus. Because the nursery is part of the school, families benefit from familiar faces, a shared bilingual approach and a smoother first day.

Yes. Children at this age pick up new languages through daily routines and play, not lessons, so a different home language is rarely a barrier. Our educators are experienced with international families and support each child individually as they settle in. The same approach continues into our preschool for families who stay with Haut-Lac.

Yes, we welcome families to visit before applying. Call +41 21 555 51 29 or email the nursery to arrange a tour and ask any questions, after which we’ll guide you through the enrolment paperwork and start date.
