Position Overview

As an Intern – Boarding Assistant, your primary responsibility is to ensure the well-being of our boarders. You will provide care, guidance, and support to each student in the boarding house, and have opportunities to participate in various areas of school life, including classroom support, extracurricular activities, and weekend events.

Job Title: Intern – Boarding Assistant
Duration: 12 months contract
Start Date: Mid-August 2025
Salary: CHF 1’800 net per month (x12)
Additional Benefits: Swiss ½ price travel card, Swiss health insurance, accommodation, meals included during term time, school holidays.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with the Senior Houseparents and Junior Houseparent to ensure the smooth running of the boarding house.
  • Student Welfare: Provide exceptional care to ensure the safety and well-being of boarders.
  • Study Supervision: Oversee and support students during evening study sessions.
  • Meal Assistance: Assist with meal preparation and supervision.
  • Extracurricular Support: Help organize and participate in extracurricular activities.
  • Logistical Assistance: Assist with school transfers, including transportation to medical appointments, local clubs, and train stations.
  • Positive Environment: Maintain an active and positive presence, fostering a supportive and caring atmosphere.
  • Additional Duties: Perform any other tasks as required by the school.
  • Summer Camp Participation: Work as part of a team during a 3-week summer camp session.

Candidate Profile

Eligibility:
This position is open only to applicants holding EU or EEA nationality.

We are looking for candidates who are passionate about youth development and education. We expect our Interns to have high expectations for themselves, their colleagues and the Boarders. A good sense of humour, an open mind and a growth mindset are essential.  No two days are the same, so you will need to be adaptable and thrive in an ever changing environment!

Required skills and qualifications:

  • Excellent command of English and/or French (ideally B2 level in both languages).
  • Clean (EU) driving licence.
  • Degree-level education.

Personal Attributes:

  • Strong interest in education, pedagogy, and pastoral education.
  • Ability to handle diverse situations with composure and professionalism.
  • Team spirit and excellent communication skills.
  • Flexibility and availability to adapt to boarding house schedules (including evenings and some weekends).
  • Enthusiastic and willing to work hard and learn.
  • Good sense of humour.
  • A robust sense of responsibility and duty.

Preffered Experience :

  • Pastoral experience
  • Working with teenagers (especially in a residential setting)

Votre profil

  • Expérience préalable en tant que chauffeur, idéalement dans le transport scolaire.
  • Compétences en bricolage et tâches maintenance.
  • Capacité à travailler de manière autonome et en équipe.
  • Maîtrise orale du français requise ; des notions d’anglais sont un atout pour communiquer avec la communauté anglophone.

French as a Foreign Language Teacher

Haut-Lac International Bilingual School near Vevey (Vaud), Switzerland, is looking for a French as a Foreign Language (FLE) teacher, starting mid-August 2025, to join its teaching team in the secondary school.

Applicants should be enthusiastic educators with experience of teaching in international schools and have an interest in promoting extra-curricular activities with our students. Haut-Lac is an IB World School and candidates should have a good knowledge of the IB curriculum and teaching philosophy.

Your profile:

  • University degree
  • A PGCE or teaching certificate
  • Teaching experience in the International Baccalaureate programmes (MYP and DP)
  • Proficiency in educational technology tools (iPad, distance learning platforms, etc.)
  • A passionate educator who practices inclusive and personalised education and offers a variety of teaching techniques
  • An educator who uses pedagogical approaches that allow for a dynamic and interactive learning environment
  • Native French speaker with a good knowledge of English

Teaching FLE in the MYP

Teaching French B HL/SL and ab initio in the IB diploma programme

Actively participate in the extracurricular life of the school

 Profil recherché | Profile Required
